Poke bowl

If you like sushi, ceviche or tuna tataki, you have to try this recipe, you will love it!

Poke Bowl is a very complete dish, originally from Hawaii.

It’s a kind of salad, its main ingredient is marinated raw fish, normally tuna -diced, the word „poke“ means cut or diced with knife. Moreover, it has other ingredients such as: spring onions, rice, seaweed, avocado, soy sauce, sesame, nuts, fresh fruit…

So let’s prepare something exotic!

Per person:

120 gr. fresh tuna

seaweed (wakame or kombu) (about 5 gr. when dry)

½ avocado

½ spring onion

a handful cooked edamame (soy beans)

about 40 gr. brown rice

4 tablespoons soy sauce

juice of ½ lemon

1 tablespoon sesame seeds

spicy sauce (optional)

Put the dry seaweed in a bowl with cold water for 15 min. so it can re-hydrate. Once it’s soft, cut it into small pieces.

Boil the rice in salted water. Drain it and rinse it with cold water.

Dice the tuna into pieces of about 2 cm. Put them into a bowl with soy sauce, lemon juice and some drops of tabasco sauce if you like it spicy. Sprinkle some sesame seeds. Mix it and leave it to marinate for 5-10 min.

Serve in a bowl: the rice, diced tuna, avocado slices, seaweed, edamame beans and finely chopped spring onion.

Ready to eat!

I chose to do my poke bowl with these ingredients and it was really good, but you can add the ingredients you prefer: carrots, cashew nuts, pickles, fresh mango… whatever you like.

If you prepare it and find a “terrific” combination of ingredients, please share it with us in the comments, deal? 😉
