Lentil burgers

This plate is really balanced, as the combination of lentils + whole cereals (bread) provides excellent protein, without the saturated fat of a traditional meat burger.

And I promise, they are delicious!

 For 4 big burgers

400 gr. cooked lentils, well-drained  (150 gr. when raw)

1 onion

1 garlic clove

1/2 red pepper

1 carrot

salt, black pepper, cumin, turmeric, chopped parsley

Whole grain buns

Lettuce, tomatoes

2 tablespoons Quark (fresh cheese fat reduced, or yogurt)

½ teaspoon mustard

Chop all vegetables very small in a mincer.

Put them to cook in a pan with a bit of olive oil, salt and pepper (low heat).

Mash the lentils in a mincer.

Mix the lentils, cooked vegetables, and spices: cumin, turmeric, parsley.

Form the burgers, and leave them for 1 hour in the fridge.

Pre-heat the oven at 200 degrees, and place the burgers in the oven for about 20 min. until they are golden.

To prepare the sauce: mix the quark with mustard.

Make the burger with: bun-bread, some lettuce leaves, burger, slices of tomato and mustard sauce.

Ready to eat!

You can also serve the burgers without a bun, just garnish with green salad or tomatoes, it will be a lighter meal.
