Pea hummus

I have to admit that of all the pulses, those which I consume the least are the peas and broad beans perhaps because I like when they are very small, fresh and tender, but the season when you can find them like that is very short, just some weeks per year.

I can tell you, from today on this situation will change, because this pea hummus made with frozen peas is terrific and it can’t be easier to prepare. So I believe that it’s going to be a “must-have” in our finger food dinners  😉

350 gr. of frozen peas (3 cups)

1 big tablespoon of tahini

1 teaspoon of garlic powder

1 teaspoon of turmeric

juice of 1 small lemon

salt & pepper

paprika (sweet or spicy) & sesame seeds

Boil the frozen peas for 5 min. Drain them. Reserve a little bit of the cooking water.

Put the peas, tahini, garlic powder, turmeric, lemon juice, salt & pepper to taste in a blender and blend them until you get a thick & homogeneous texture.

You can add a bit of the boiling water until you get the consistency you like, personally I like this hummus quite thick 🙂

Serve it in a bowl. Sprinkle paprika and some sesame seeds.

You can serve it with some crudités and crunchy toasts to dip or spread it on toasted bread, adding the toppings you like: some slices of tomatoes, asparagus tips, strips of roasted pepper, some pomegranate seeds…
