Out of all the pulses, my favourite is the chickpeas. I like them as a salad, as hummus, spiced & crunchy, stewed with codfish…
As you may already know, I love simple recipes, with few ingredients, those you can prepare in advance and freeze… and these burgers fulfil all these conditions. Moreover, they are healthy and delicious.
What can I say? Just try them! You will love them 🙂
To make 3 or 4 burgers:
200 gr. cooked chickpeas
1 small red onion
a handful of fresh spinach
3 tablespoons of chickpea flour
salt, black pepper
½ teaspoon of cumin powder
1 teaspoon of turmeric
……..
Peel the onion and put it in a blender.
Add the cooked chickpeas, spinach, salt, pepper, cumin and turmeric. Blend it. (Move the ingredients a bit with a spoon to help blend the mix).
Put the mixture into a bowl, add the chickpea flour and mix it.
Warm up a pan to mid-heat.
Form the burgers in a size you would like, place them on the pan and cook for some minutes per side.
!! Tip: Put wax paper on the pan and cook the burgers on it. You won’t need to add oil and they won’t stick to the pan.
Today I served these burgers with roasted carrots (in this video you can see how I prepared them), pickles and yogurt-mustard sauce. These burgers would also taste great with tomato and cucumber slices, guacamole, or onion preserve…
