Bagels “my style”

Today I baked bagels for first time!

Well, I call them bagels because of their form, as the “original” bagels and these ones are like chalk and cheese 😀

I spared the sugar, I also did not knead or boil them like you do with the “real ones”… but they are delicious and very easy to make, so here we go: “Bagels MY style”.

For 3 bagels:

1 cup of whole wheat flour (or oat/ buckwheat flour…)

2 eggs

¼ cup of skimmed milk (or soya/ oat milk…)

¼ cup of flax seeds

2 tablespoons of olive oil

Salt (to taste)

1 teaspoon of baking powder

….

Optional: beaten egg, sesame seeds.

………..

Pre-heat the oven at 180 degrees.

Mix all the ingredients in a blender.

Grease the moulds with olive oil and pour the mix into them.

Bake at 180 degrees for about 25 minutes.

Take them out from the oven.

< Optional: Paint the bagels with beaten egg and sprinkle sesame seeds over them. Put them in the oven again for some more minutes. >

Once they are cool, take them out from the moulds.

Ready to eat!

For me the most typical bagels are those with salmon.

So I made my bagels with:

  • mustard sauce (I mixed 2 tablespoons of quark 0% + 1 teaspoon of mustard)
  • thin slices avocado
  • slices of smoked salmon
  • thin slices of cucumber
  • chopped fresh dill (Did you know that dill is the leaves of the fennel?)

It’s a special, healthy and easy made brunch… I’m sure we will have it again very soon  😉
